The reality
Much of Ọyọ Central is farmland, and its farmers lose value every season to roads that fail and markets they cannot reach.
Under RAAMP (federally driven, World Bank and French-Development-Agency-supported), Ọyọ delivered a first phase of rural roads and modern markets, inspected in Akinyele, Oluyole and Ona-Ara. Yet the state's own surveys identified hundreds of kilometres of rural roads still needing spot improvement, maintenance and rehabilitation.
How I will act
Support the expansion and funding of RAAMP and rural-access appropriations. Back measures on farm finance, storage and warehousing.
Prioritise named feeder roads (plus storage, aggregation and processing centres and rural markets) in each farming local government.
Draw the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, RAAMP, the Bank of Agriculture, NIRSAL, and off-taker and anchor-borrower schemes to Ọyọ Central farmers. Support cooperatives and fair pricing.
